Israa Draz is a dual-degree undergraduate student studying Materials Science & Engineering at Columbia University, after earning a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Richmond. She recently joined the Mineral Physics group at Columbia and Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory as a research intern, where she is learning computational methods in mineral physics and geophysics. Israa brings a strong background in programming, data analysis, and machine learning, and is a co-author of a publication on using smartphone sensing data to predict ADHD symptoms (UbiComp/ISWC ’22). She is excited to deepen her understanding of physics and materials under extreme conditions and plans to pursue a Ph.D. in the field.
