Jessica Santos Rego
Postdoctoral Researcher
Jessica Santos Rego holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Campinas (2022) and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo (USP). She studies the properties of mineral–fluid interfaces for geological carbon storage at the Research Center for Greenhouse Gas Innovation (RCGI) in Brazil. As a visiting researcher at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO), she investigates the thermoelastic properties of geologically relevant silica phases and their correlation with seismic data. Her expertise lies in Condensed Matter Physics, with a focus on the electronic, thermal, and mechanical properties of materials using atomistic simulations. She has experience with Density Functional Theory (DFT), Molecular Dynamics, and the physical and chemical properties of systems, including condensed water phases, polymer/fullerene and water/mineral interfaces, mineral phases, and cementitious materials.
